GroundWork

terms of use

These terms are the agreement between you and Bod By Shaad LLC for using the GroundWork app on a phone.

Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. These terms take effect on October 14, 2026.

Who can use the app

  • You must be at least 16 years old.

  • Give your real name and an email address you control, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens in your account; tell us at once if someone else gets into it.

  • One person per account. A coach may keep profiles for clients, as set out under Coaches.

  • A guest account lets you try the app without an email address. It lives only on the device that made it: signing out, deleting the app or clearing its data loses it for good, and we cannot get it back. You can turn it into a full account from Settings at any time.

Not medical advice

GroundWork is a tool for planning and recording training and food. It is not a medical device and does not give medical, dietary or health advice. Nothing in it, including a program, meal plan, target or exercise from our library, replaces a doctor or a registered dietitian.

  • Check with a doctor before starting a new training or eating plan, especially if you are pregnant, have a medical condition or injury, take medication, or have had an eating disorder.

  • Stop at once and get help if you feel pain, faintness, dizziness or shortness of breath.

  • Calorie and nutrient figures are estimates. They come from public food databases, product labels and what users enter, and may be wrong for the food in front of you.

  • You train and eat at your own risk, and you decide what is safe for your body. That stays true when a coach has written your plan.

Coaches

If you use the app to coach other people, these extra terms apply to you.

  • You work for yourself, not for us. Coaches are not our employees, agents or partners, and we do not check their qualifications. Your advice, plans and sessions are your own responsibility, as are any qualifications, insurance and licenses your work needs.

  • Your arrangement with each client is yours. Prices, payment, cancellations and refunds are between you and your client. The app takes no payments and is not a party to that arrangement.

  • Get permission first. Before you keep a profile for someone, record anything about them or invite them by email, make sure they have agreed. Tell them they can create their own account and take the profile over.

  • Use client information only to coach that client. Do not copy it out of the app to sell, share or market to them for anything else. When you stop working with someone, remove them from your clients.

  • Plans must suit the person. Programs, meal plans and targets you assign should fit that client's health and ability. Our library and diet plans are starting points, not advice for any particular person.

  • A kept profile belongs to the client. Removing a client takes them off your list. It does not delete their records, which stay available for them to claim.

Members with a coach

When you connect with a coach using their code or invite, you let them see and add to your training, body measures, food records, goals, appointments and messages, as described in the privacy policy. They keep that access until either of you ends the connection: you can leave at any time under Settings, then Your trainer, and the coach can remove you. Your coach is independent of us, and we are not responsible for their advice or for any agreement you have with them.

Your content

What you log is yours. You give us permission to store it, show it to you and to the people you connect with, and process it as the privacy policy describes. That permission ends when you delete it or your account, apart from the items below.

What you submit to the shared library. When you submit an exercise or food, including pictures and videos, you let us review it, edit it, decline it or publish it for everyone using the app, free of charge and worldwide. Once published it can stay after you delete your account, without your name. Submit only what you made yourself or have the right to share, and nothing showing a person who has not agreed.

The feedback board. Posts and comments are seen by everyone signed in. If you suggest an idea, we may use it without paying you or owing you anything.

Calendar links. The private address of your calendar feed works like a password. Anyone you give it to can see your session times. Turn the feed off in Settings to stop it working.

Data from others. Product details for some barcodes come from Open Food Facts, available under the Open Database License. Other food figures come from the US Department of Agriculture's FoodData Central, and many exercise descriptions and pictures from the public-domain free-exercise-db.

Text-message reminders

GroundWork session reminders are texts sent to a client who does not use the app, after their coach adds the client's mobile number and the client replies YES to our first text.

  • What you get: a reminder a day before and an hour before each session with your coach. How many depends on how often you train. Message and data rates may apply.

  • To stop: reply STOP to any of our texts. We send one message confirming, then no more. Reply START to have them back.

  • For help: reply HELP, or email contact@bodbyshaad.com.

  • Coaches may add a client's number only with that client's permission.

  • Mobile carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.

  • We handle your number as our privacy policy describes, and never share it for marketing.

Rules

When you use the app, do not:

  • harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or post anything hateful, sexual, violent or unlawful;

  • pretend to be someone else, or record information about someone without their agreement;

  • upload anything you do not have the right to share, or anything carrying viruses or harmful code;

  • try to get into another person's account or information, or around the app's security, rate limits or checks;

  • copy, scrape, resell or rent out the app or its libraries, or use automated tools to collect from it;

  • use the app for anything unlawful, or to give medical treatment it was not made for.

We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules.

Our side

  • Price. The app is free today. If we ever charge for any part of it, we will say so clearly before you pay anything, and nothing you already have will start costing money without your agreement.

  • Changes to the app. We improve the app and may add, change or remove features. We aim to keep it running, but cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors.

  • The app and its name belong to us. These terms let you use the app for your own training or your coaching. They do not give you any other rights in it.

  • Closing your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.

  • Suspending or closing an account. We may do this if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect other people. Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you why and give you the chance to save your information first.

  • If we close the app. We will give at least 30 days' notice in the app and by email, so you can save what you need.

Disclaimers and limits of liability

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we do not promise that it is fit for a particular purpose, uninterrupted, or that figures in it are accurate.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for: injury, illness or loss arising from training, eating or following any plan; advice given by a coach; lost profits or data; or indirect losses. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before it and US$100.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or takes away rights you have as a consumer.

If you coach, you agree to cover our reasonable costs if a client brings a claim against us about your coaching or about information you recorded without their agreement.

If you got the app from Apple's App Store

Apple requires these points, and they apply to you if you use the app on an Apple device:

  • These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.

  • You may use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as Apple's Usage Rules allow.

  • Apple has no duty to provide maintenance or support for the app.

  • If the app fails to meet a warranty that applies by law, you may tell Apple, and Apple may refund any price you paid for it. Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.

  • We, not Apple, handle any claim about the app, including product liability, failing to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection, and claims that the app infringes someone's intellectual property.

  • You confirm you are not in a country under a US government embargo or named as a terrorist-supporting country, and not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

  • You must also follow the terms of any service you use alongside the app, such as your mobile carrier.

  • Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms against you as third-party beneficiaries.

On Android, Google Play's terms apply alongside these.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Delaware. Disputes go to the state courts of Delaware, unless the law where you live as a consumer gives you the right to bring them there. Please write to us first; most problems are quicker to fix by email.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app and ask you to agree before it applies to you. The date at the top shows the current version.
